![]() ![]() IOS 15.2 is already entering its third beta and, as ‘major point’ updates tend to do, it contains several useful new features. Note: bookmark this guide, I will continue to update it with any relevant flaws or features I find and you will find my final verdict here in one week. Maybe similar strides for older iPhones will follow in the next release. This sets my Spidey Sense tingling (Apple has a long history of not disclosing bug fixes) but the end result is one and the same: this appears to be a very solid step forward for iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 owners running iOS 15. On the flipside, isolated graphical glitches aside, the update appears to be more stable than any iOS 15 release to date. It is a large download for a single fix on two iPhone ranges where I can find no evidence of the problem (call drops) being widely reported. Again, this leads me to wonder whether this 400MB update quietly contains more fixes than Apple is prepared to reveal.Īpple iOS 15.1.1 Verdict: Upgrade IF You Are Already Running iOS 15 In fact, I haven’t been able to find a single example of a user reporting that their calling experience has suddenly improved with this release. Certainly not enough to warrant a dedicated iOS update. ![]() Oddly, I haven’t seen widespread reports of call drops on either the iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 series. Even Apple’s official security page reveals that iOS 15.1.1 “has no published CVE entries” aka security fixes. iOS 15.1.1 improves call drop performance on iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models. My hope is Apple has added a lot of undisclosed fixes and is testing their efficacy across a smaller number of models than usual. Second, the release is almost 400MB for what is apparently ( spoiler for the next section) a single issue update, which doesn’t track. First, being limited to iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 users, it’s a much smaller sample size than normal. ![]() That said, there are two factors at play here. ![]()
